About

Michael Ferraro is a community musician and educator who has been teaching since 2011. He holds a bachelor of science in communication and a master of music in music education from Arizona State University. Michael began playing guitar when he was 14, and has studied and performed many styles including pop, blues, rock, folk, jazz, classical, samba, bossa nova and choro. He continues to perform regularly as a member of the Phoenix based ensemble, Bossa Brazil. In addition to playing guitar, Michael has explored forms of electronic music production using Ableton Live and other digital media.

In 2017, Michael joined Paradise Valley Community College as adjunct faculty, where he has taught private guitar lessons and classes in rock history and songwriting.  In addition to teaching classes, he currently directs the Brazilian Jazz Combo.

In 2020, Michael joined Paradise Valley Schools where he currently teaches guitar at Shea Middle School, and Music Technology for North Valley Arts Academies program at both Shea Middle School and Desert Cove Elementary School. Michael is passionate about working with a variety of learners and enjoys the opportunity to see, and engage in, students’ musical and personal growth.
